Water
Drink up to one gallon per person each day on the trail.
Every stop, have trekkers drink even if they say they are not thirsty.
Treatment for Heat Illness
Give shade, water and rest.
Blisters
Cover with moleskin to relieve pressure. ASAP!
Drain sterilely, leave skin covering blister.
Cover and keep clean and dry
Emergency Weather Plan
Rain/Hail/Wind Storm
Take shelter in strongest structure possible: tents, under carts, under bushes.
Storm with Lightening
Spread out away from tall objects, kneel away from each other on the ground.
In case of lightening strike, take care of those not talking first.
Tick Removal
Wear proper clothing. Watch for them and brush them off you if you see them.
Use tweezers or medical “pliers” in your first aid kits to gently tug them off your skin.
Use a needle, like splinter removal, to remove retained mouth parts from skin.
Clean bite area.
